Years of original research, in one collection

Universities and academic repositories preserve graduate theses and dissertations across disciplines, languages and research methods. Argo Reach helps explore licensing opportunities for collections with appropriate permission and useful academic context.

What is AI data licensing?

AI developers may use authorized research collections to improve the understanding, organization and analysis of academic writing and specialized subject matter.

Data licensing specifies which works may be used, for what purposes, and under what agreed terms. Inclusion in a repository does not itself establish the right to license the content.

How the process works
  1. Existing records
  2. Defined licensing agreement
  3. AI development

The work behind the research

Here are examples of the types of collections we are interested in exploring.

  • Full-Text Theses

Graduate and doctoral research manuscripts with chapter structure and references.

    PDF / DOCX / TEX

  • Research Methods & Findings

Methodology sections, experiments, findings, tables and figures retained with their source context.

    Methods / Results / Figures

  • Metadata & Abstracts

Subject classifications, abstracts, keywords, disciplines, institutions and dates.

    Abstract / Keywords / Subject

  • Multilingual & Specialized Fields

Theses in underrepresented languages or technical disciplines with consistent full text and metadata.

    Language / Discipline / Citations

Why AI developers look at long-form research

Theses and dissertations often explain a question, a method, supporting evidence and a conclusion in one sustained work. Authorized collections can provide examples of technical writing, subject-specific terminology and relationships among research claims, evidence and citations.

  1. Research question
  2. Method and evidence
  3. Conclusion
  • Understand specialized terminology

  • Follow long-form arguments

  • Relate methods to findings

  • Organize research by subject and language

A full research work carries its own context

An isolated abstract summarizes a contribution. The associated methods, findings, citations and metadata provide more detail about what the author did and how the work fits into a field.

  1. 1Research question
  2. 2Methodology
  3. 3Findings and analysis
  4. 4References / metadata

Start with a description, not your files

You do not need to upload confidential materials to begin a conversation.

  1. 1 Describe

Tell us what collections, formats and systems your organization has, and approximately how much historical material exists.

  2. 2 Assess

Argo Reach reviews potential relevance, collection structure, scale and buyer fit.

  3. 3 Explore

If there is a potential match, discuss permitted use, access, preparation and commercial terms.

A bridge between specialized data and AI development

Your institution preserves original scholarship. Argo Reach helps assess whether eligible research collections may meet AI development needs and supports exploration of defined commercial terms.

  • Research-collection qualification
  • Subject and language coverage
  • Metadata and document integrity
  • Commercial coordination
